The Las Vegas Raiders might have found their future quarterback. Right now, Gardner Minshew II is leading the team, but they could be eyeing a new QB in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Raiders are about average, so they might need some luck to get a top pick. Or maybe not?
During a playoff game between the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty, Raiders owner Mark Davis reportedly chatted with Shedeur Sanders, a quarterback from Colorado Buffaloes. Could Sanders be a good fit for the Raiders? Some think so; others might disagree.
Derek Carr gave the Raiders solid quarterback play for years, but it didn’t always lead to success. Recently, the team has built an identity beyond just the quarterback, thanks in large part to Maxx Crosby’s rise as a defensive star. They’ve got other strong players too.
If Coach Prime gives his blessing, Shedeur could shine in Las Vegas.

Antonio Pierce being an ex-NFL player might help sway Shedeur and his family.
Shedeur Sanders isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he could become a standout rookie QB. He’s played plenty at Colorado and Jackson State. Before anything else though, he needs to prove himself at a top-tier school like Colorado in its Big 12 return. His style is reminiscent of Geno Smith.
This isn’t to put down Sanders; it’s actually a compliment. I remember watching Geno Smith excel at West Virginia. Going to the New York Jets was tough on his career, but Seattle revived him. Smith’s calmness and anticipation are key.
The Raiders would benefit from a QB with physical traits similar to Derek Carr’s peak form. Unlike Carr sometimes did, Sanders wouldn’t play scared. He’d elevate the team’s quarterback level—how much remains uncertain—but he’s worth considering.
Though Davis often stirs things up, I don’t mind seeing Sanders with the Raiders.
