It’s time to hit the wasteland again for another Death Race of Gaslands, exactly 3 years after our very first post on this blog, which happened to be a Gaslands battle report!
The summer, being quite the rainy and cold one, we decided to burn our elbows in the scorching sun of Earth’s future wasteland!
Setting up a Gaslands Death Race
We played a straightforward 72 cans Death Race on a 3×3 wasteland mat.
As usual, I played Slime or Team Nilbog as they are known in our part of the wasteland. This time, I brought my Lobster (Heavy Truck), a Car, and a Performance Car to the gaming table.
David fielded his 3 Myazaki Performance Cars lead by Luigi Fastadriva in his modded Lamborghini!
Gentlemen, start your engines!
The start was a bit rough, with our cars bumbing into each other.
My Lobster Heavy Truck, not yet able to shoot before having passed the 1st gate, put its grabber arm to good use. I swiftly swung around David’s F40 by 180°!
Quickly, my Performance Car, the one from my Gaslands car beginner tutorial, made it to the 1st place!
Myazaki driving skills … and lots of audience votes!
David’s Myazaki drivers demonstrating their driving and shooting skills to the audience quickly gathered enough votes to force my Performance Car to wipe out, to fail in doing so and to collide with a fence, resulting in a massive explosion!
Thus, the road ahead of Myazaki’s Luigi Fastadriva was free and his to conquer!
After that, Lichen, one of the Myazaki drivers, overtook Team Nilbog’s Lobster at high speed. But, unfortunately for him, he got turned around by the heavy truck’s mighty grabber arm, leaving him completely outside the race track and facing in the wrong direction.
No more cars to activate …
Unfortunately, the Nilbog Ford Sierra car, being somewhat ahead of its rivals, wiped out with more hazard tokens than hull points left. One the one hand, that gave me another audience vote, but, on the other, having failed the wipe out, David got to turn my car facing a very challenging direction. In first gear, of course. In other words, this left me without a car to activate in the following gear phases since the Lobster was already at its maximum of 3 gears.
Thus, having no chance to catch up with Luigi Fastadriva and being unable to shoot at him, I threw in the towel.
Ultimately, this left me with a bitter defeat and David a sweet, and let’s be fair, a well deserved victory!
Gaslands is a very cheap, easy and fun game, making it perfect for beginners in our opinion.
