Review:

Overview:

Truth be told we don’t travel that much. But when we do we prefer to have board games available than not. A couple of years ago due to circumstances beyond our control we had to take an almost 3 month extended stay away from our home. Unfortunately, we didn’t really have access to bring any of our board games so we were at the mercy of the accommodations we were able to procure at the time. Because. of my lovely ADHD brain I have a hard time remembering what I ate for breakfast a couple of days ago, this was even worse way back then as I was undiagnosed and not medicated. But in trying to rack my brain to remember if they had any available board games, I’m at a loss. I do remember that they had a Playstation of some iteration and some 1V1 shooter game in which my kids really showed me up. Place me in front of an oldskool platform game or a good old 8-bit game and I can show them who’s their daddy any day. Tetris99 and Breakout: Recharged are my current jams. I also love me some Pac-Man. All that to say having some board games of our vast collection with us would’ve been nice.

While we didn’t have any trips on the horizon and we don’t really have need to transport games, when Akitaka reached out to me about the possibility of reviewing Ultimate Multifunctional Boardgame Bag set, I couldn’t pass it up! I remember when we had a weekly game group 4 years ago when we had it at a different place than usual our fearless leader, the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Casual Game Revolution, he’d always bring a bag full of board games which I always thought ROCKED!

Rules & Setup:

As this isn’t a game, there really are no rules and/or set-up for this bag. Heck, you don’t have to use it for just board games. Shortly after we got this bag, I woke up before anyone in their right mind is up. Who told you I was in my right mind, anyway. Because there was still quite sometime before my early game of basketball (Not on the tabletop) began and I needed to go to the grocery store as well as get my running ( we do have a car, remember I told you I’m not in my right mind? My wife tells me most people would only run if a bear is chasing them.) miles in. So, I decided to run the 1.5 or so miles to the store ( don’t worry it wasn’t up-hill both ways in the snow, I’m not that old!) to get our shopping done. I did walk around pushing a shopping cart. If I’m hadn’t I’m sure someone would’ve sent the authorities in to talk to me about not shop-lifting. But, when it got to the bagging of my groceries everything went straight inside the Ultimate Multifunctional Boardgame Bag. I swear they thought of EVERYTHING because there were even several pouches on the outside of the bag in which I could carry my phone, keys and wallet in. I admit it was hard and heavy to run with it on my back while it was plum full of groceries. So I wouldn’t recommend filling it full of games to run the halls of Gen-Con, but to each their own, just remember you’ve been warned.

The setup was easy from what I remembered, I pulled it out of the box and it was ready to be used.

Theme and Mechanics:

While you could really slap any theme on this bag and call it good. Remember how I just went grocery shopping with it? It really is built with board games in mind. While I didn’t get the pleasure of packing it for our trip we recently went on, we did use it. My wife and son did the packing of the Ultimate Multifunctional Boardgame Bag set.

They were able to fit:

And there was still room left over!

Will it last?:

Well because we don’t travel much, you’d bet your bottom dollar. However, I also believe after having used it that even if we were going on a backpacking trip every weekend in the High Unitas (A mountain range I did a 50-Mile hike as a young buck) every weekend, this would be the bag I’d want to bring my board games in. Would I want to bring my board games out in the wilderness like that though? That’s a subject for another review all together.

All that to say, when comparing this to backpacks:

1- This isn’t your crappy character backpack that Walmart sells year in and year out to make a buck during “Back 2 School”

2- This isn’t even your JanSport backpack that made it through your high-school career with you.

3- I’d go so far as to compare this to the military ruck-sack I deployed to the desert with some 16 years ago. While it wouldn’t be near big enough for me to take everything I need to live in Afghanistan for 3 months. However there is adequate room for all your board game needs for either a 3 hour game night and/or a 3 day gaming convention.

Artwork and Components:

In addition to this AWESOME Ultimate Multifunctional Boardgame Bag set you’ll be getting The token case set, to store your tokens in.

The Good:

Where to begin and where to end? That’s a hard question. I’d say it’s the back pack all gamer need if they’ll be transporting any games to game nights and/or cons.

I tried to do a video but to no avail unfortunately. However Meeple Mountain did and you can watch it Here:

The Other:

I see no disadvantages to this bag. I’d love to get one for each member of my family. But for the time, the one we have will have to suffice.

Final Thoughts:

I loved it!  ’nuff said!
